Application Process for Rising Sophomores, Juniors, & Seniors Who Want to Join Mindful Living LLC

STEP 1: Attend an Information Event to Learn About Upperclass Living Learning Communities at Mason

  • Tuesday, January 27, 2017 from 4-6pm in Hanover Hall

STEP 2: Qualify to Participate in the Housing Selection Process

The Housing Selection process is for current on-campus Mason resident students who wish to select a residence hall room for 2017-2018 academic year. All current Mason resident students who would like to live on campus for the 2017-2018 year must participate in Housing Selection.

If you are not a current on-campus student, the general waitlist application will be available on approximately May 1, 2016. Incoming transfer students have a separate application that is available at

Step 3: Contact the Mindful Living LLC Coordinator

Contact Chelsie Kuhn @ 703-993-4213 or Office located in Northern Neck, Room 119. This is the part of the process when you choose your room. Housing will not make actual room assignments; that's done by LLCs.

Step 4: Complete Your LLC Application by Friday, January 27, 2016 no later than 5pm

In December, the LLC application will go live.  Complete the application by logging into your e-living account. Under your Housing Applications, click on whichever link applies to you. You will then find the 2017-2018 Upperclass Living Learning Community Application. Following approval of your 2017-2018 LLC application, you will be asked to then fulfill your general Housing and Residence Life application.

For students returning to Mindful Living for a second year, you must fill out the application, as well as sign up for a returning interview. Please contact Chelsie Kuhn at to sign up for your interview. The email must be submitted by January 22 no later than 5pm.

You will be informed about whether or not you have been placed in the LLC by Monday, February 1.

Step 5: Pay Your $300 nonrefundable deposit by February 3, 2016

LLC applicants will receive an email notifying them whether or not they have been accepted to their LLC no later than February 1, 2016. Once notified, applicants accepted to an LLC will need to pay their $300 nonrefundable housing deposit.

The housing application for current students to live on campus for the 2017-2018 academic year opens on Monday, January 23, 2017. This year, as the demand for housing at Mason grows, we are updating the cancellation policy and changing when students pay the $300 housing deposit. You must be prepared to pay your $300 deposit when you fill out your general housing application!
