Donate New Socks to Our Homeless Neighbors during Socktober

Tonight in Fairfax County, about 1,000 of our neighbors may not have a home to go home to, according to a recent community survey. Even a small act of kindness like donating socks as the weather grows colder can make a big difference in the lives of our Fairfax County neighbors who are homeless.

If you are able, please participate in Socktober. Help George Mason University faculty, staff, and students stock the Katherine Hanley Family Shelter with new socks. We collected 350 pairs of socks in fall 2016 in memory of Alice Watts, a longtime employee of Mason who served students for more than 25 years but lost her fight with cancer in September 2016. This year we hope to collect even more to honor Alice’s years of service to Mason and to help this local shelter.

Donations can be delivered to the following locations between October 3 and November 3:

* CHSS UAA - Buchanan Hall D217
* CVPA Academic Affairs - College Hall C211
* HR & Payroll - Merten Hall 4100
