What would happen if we studied what is right with people versus what is “wrong” with them?
The Well-Being Learning Community is a strengths-based experience designed to give residential and non-residential students the opportunity to learn about well-being practices and the science behind those practices.

INTS 291
The Well-Being Learning Community is open to both residential and non-residential students. All George Mason students (regardless of whether or not you live on campus) can enjoy the INTS 291 course, Explorations of Well-Being. This course is designed to help you:
Build connections with your peers: Social connection is one of the biggest predictors of well-being. In the first several classes, you will develop connections with your classmates through a series of thought-provoking questions and activities in a small group format that is designed to foster deeper, more meaningful connections.
Learn how to apply your unique natural talents for a fulfilling life and well-being: What would happen if we studied what was right with people versus what is “wrong” with them? In the remaining class sessions, you will take the Clifton Strengths assessment for free and receive a report outlining your Top 5 Clifton Strengths. You will learn about your top five themes, or what you naturally do best, and discover ways to apply those strengths for success in your academics, career, and life.
By participating in this class, you will have the opportunity to:
- Experience a greater sense of connection and belonging with other RLC members
- Identify and define your Top 5 Clifton Strengths
- Identify examples of how your Top 5 Clifton Strengths have contributed to past successes
- Recognize the role of your strengths in your personal behavior
- Describe how your Clifton Strengths work together
- Learn how to work effectively by partnering with others with complementary strengths
- Analyze common labels that lead people to discount talents and the potential strength of others
Application Timeline
The application timeline is closed to live in Amherst, but you can still join the community and access our programming by enrolling in the course.
