Coaching for Organizational Excellence

The Center for the Advancement of Well-Being offers research-based, experiential programs that align with the International Coaching Federation (ICF) requirements and coaching competencies. Our Leadership Coaching Instructional Team includes a combination of MCC and PCC-certified coaches who bring numerous years of expertise and leadership in coaching and competency-based instruction. Individuals who complete our coaching programs can continue their learning through our Business of Coaching Program and Masterful Coaching Course, a distinguishing feature of our comprehensive coach training curriculum.

Our Level 1 Coaching for Organizational Excellence program will allow participants to:

• Practice coaching as a unique leadership skill distinct from but complementary to, mentoring, consulting, and performance management
• Apply evidence-based strategies for building individual and organizational well-being
• Employ coaching approaches to achieve greater team performance and engagement
• Develop core coaching competencies that can be applied in multiple leadership contexts

This program includes virtual or in-person instructional hours, asynchronous readings and activities, small group learning engagements, and one-on-one mentor coaching sessions. Our Level 1 coach education program takes place over 4 months and includes 75 Coach Education hours.

Program Format

Participants will complete four modules in four months. They will meet two days per month, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET, and once per month for a 2-hour learning lab. All instruction will be conducted in English. This program can be delivered in a hybrid format or fully online.

Tuition Cost

The Coaching for Organizational Excellence certificate tuition cost is $7,095 for a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 24 participants per cohort. For in-person program delivery, a 20 percent administration fee is added. This program is currently offered as closed enrollment for individual organizations.

Intended Participants and Prerequisites

This program is designed for individuals aspiring to develop coaching skills as part of their professional portfolio. Prerequisites for this program include the following:

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or demonstrated equivalent
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience
• Approved Application (by sponsoring organization if closed-enrollment contract offering)
• Fluency in both spoken and written English

Program Curriculum

The Coaching for Organizational Excellence curriculum includes mentor coaching, observed coaching sessions, and preparation for the ICF final exam. The curriculum meets the ICF standard for the Associate Certified Coach (ACC) certification. In addition, our program offers specialized training in strengths-based leadership principles, well-being, and organizational development. The four modules include:

Module 1: Introduction to Leadership Coaching: This module introduces the principles of leadership coaching, the coach-client relationship, and the importance of building individual well-being practices as a key component of becoming an effective leadership coach.

Module 2: Exploring ICF Competencies: This module offers a deep dive into the flow of coaching and the competencies and skills necessary to be a successful leadership coach. This module highlights the ICF ethical guidelines and professional standards, creating a coaching contract and establishing the coaching agreement.

Module 3: Conducting Effective Coaching Conversations: In this module, coaches will explore common coaching language and models to support their curiosity and expand their toolbox of coaching maneuvers to develop their ability to conduct effective coaching conversations.

Module 4: Leadership Coaching and Resilience: This module challenges coaches to integrate cutting-edge coaching skills and well-being practices to support client resilience and organizational success.
