Kristin Gibson, M.A., CHES®, CA, is a seasoned educator and advocate with over 15 years of experience in academic settings. She is currently serving as the Associate Director of the Student Support and Advocacy Center at George Mason University while pursuing a Ph.D. in Higher Education and a Graduate Certificate in Women and Gender Studies. In addition to her university role, Kristin shapes national industry standards for campus advocacy and student well-being through her leadership positions within the student affairs organization, NASPA.
While she is newly admitted to the Higher Education doctoral program, she has worked in the area of power-based violence for over a decade. She has taught sociology of GBV courses before transitioning to staff/administrator roles within the area of survivor support. Since arriving at George Mason, she have expanded her lens to focus more broadly on sources of trauma within the student population and in my own work, she has interest in how a holistic approach to well-being, particularly the incorporation of social well-being initiatives, might foster resilience.
